The new Planning Court
It was expected that the new Planning Court would be established in the summer, but it was brought forward in the Budget last month and came into existence on 6 April.
What is it? It is a new court in the High Court headed by a planning liaison judge, Mr Justice Lindblom, a former planning QC. It is a specialist court and its judges will all be experienced in planning law.
What cases will it hear? It will hear a ‘planning court claim’ that covers: (a) all cases that arise from judicial review or statutory challenge; or (b) a judicial review or statutory challenge that has been transferred to the Planning Court…
