M&A Weekly Update: beneficial ownership of shares — public register; and more
The Queen’s Speech, which set out the government’s proposed legislative programme for the year ahead, suggests that legislation mandating the publication of a register of beneficial share ownership will be put before this parliament. It is unclear whether the other recently proposed changes to company legislation, including the abolition of annual returns and the option to no longer keep certain private registers, will also be dealt with at the same time. Draft legislation has yet to be published.
