ICO publishes new guidance on direct marketing

Consent to receiving unsolicited electronic marketing communications must be ’extremely clear and precise’.

How to obtain valid consent has also come up recently in connection with direct marketing where the Information Commissioner oversees compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
