Government plans to cut collective redundancy consultation period
The government has announced that the current 90-day minimum consultation period before large-scale redundancies can take effect will be cut to 45 days. This change is expected to come into effect on 6 April 2013.
Some measure of change has been expected since the Government first announced its proposal to cut collective redundancy consultation periods over a year ago. The recent announcement is a response to the formal consultation, which closed on 19 September 2012.
