Eversheds has just taken its bravest step yet in its hunt for non-performing partners. The national firm has gone open plan in all of its new offices. Apparently, according to the office move consultants that advised on this momentous step, open plan increases productivity and enhances information-sharing. Newcastle, Cardiff, Cambridge, Manchester... the list of wall-less hives of activity goes on and on.
But never mind the implications for future Chinese Walls. What about the impact on skiving? As one Geordie partner put it: "There's only been one adverse reaction. Someone who shall remain nameless said she didn't like it because people could see what she was doing. Which in her case, was not a lot."
