BPP Law School outstrips parent company in interim results

The parent company of BPP Law School, has announced flat profits in its interim results, despite a strong performance by its law division.

Pre-tax profit at the professional education group for the six months ended 30 June was £5.54m, a marginal decrease on the £5.55m recorded over the same period last year.

The law division, the second largest after accountancy and tax group, has outperformed its parent company BPP Holdings with turnover up by 28 per cent to £10.1m.

Turnover for the whole group was £57.6m up just 3 per cent on last year.

Chairman Janet Cohen commented that the recovery in the business environment was happening “very slowly and several of our businesses have yet to benefit from it”. However Cohen noted that early recruitment figures for the law schools in London and the new school in Leeds, opening next month, are “very promising”.
