Softened up by years of teaching law, BPP lecturer Alastair Vere Nicholl felt it was time to tackle something tougher than a few sleepy students. He and three other hardy souls have just completed the first east-west crossing of the Antarctic on skis. The team set a new world record in the process, reaching the South Pole in 37 days.
On his return, Vere Nicholl took his frost-bitten toes along to the Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire for tea with Prince Charles.
