BPE closes in Birmingham after Irwin Mitchell raid

BPE Solicitors has closed its Birmingham office following the departure of its Midlands team to Irwin Mitchell.
A 10-strong team, including three partners, left BPE for Irwin Mitchell last month (29 April 2009).
Senior partner John Workman (pictured) said: “We’re not there any more, we’ve shut the office.”
The firm occupied offices in Bennets Hill in central Birmingham and all calls to the former office number are now re-directed to its head office in Cheltenham.
Workman confirmed that the firm had no plans to re-launch in the second city, but declined to comment on its obligations on the Birmingham office lease. “We’ve an empty office and are in the process of sub-letting it,” he added.
BPE announced last week that a 13-member group of staff that had been working a four-day week would return to full-time hours as of 1 July (11 June 2009).
