They say a good lawyer's a dead lawyer - the Dictionary of Legal Biography 1845-1945 takes the point literally. Most - if not all - of the luminaries gracing its pages have long-since passed away - hardly surprising when you consider that to qualify for entry they must have held an official post before 1945.
