Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker's real estate practice may be struggling more than at first feared. It is no secret that the US firm has been battling to develop as strong a UK real estate capability as the firm's notable US practice, especially following the departures of partners Jeffrey Bailey and Nigel Heilpern to DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson respectively.
But with just three partners left, one of whom is London managing partner Mark Eagan, the US firm looks likely to turn to Mayfair's Boodle Hatfield for assistance. The two firms were seen flirting at Boodle's recent property party at Home House and it is understood that Paul Hastings has outsourced work to the niche firm in the past.
Not bad work for Boodle, given that it also has a referral relationship with rival US firm Brown Rudnick.
