Boodle Hatfield poaches partner from Osborne Clarke to expand German practice

London firm Boodle Hatfield has recruited a litigation partner from Osborne Clarke to head its Anglo-German group.

Stuart Miller set up the Frankfurt office of Osborne Clarke in 1994 and ran the practice until 1998 when he came back to London.

He will lead a group including four partners at Boodle Hatfield.

Head of litigation at the firm Michael Tulloch says the appointment was made to increase the firm's existing links with German commercial clients.

“It's all too obvious if you look at the number of mergers between City firms and German firms that Germany is an economy that is going to grow,” he says.

“Our Anglo-German work spans the practice and brings us valuable projects.

“Stuart's considerable expertise in the area will help us to develop even stronger business in Germany and its German-speaking neighbours.”

Osborne Clarke managing partner Leslie Perrin says he wishes Miller well, but adds that litigation is not the area his firm is currently developing in Germany. He says Miller's departure was entirely amicable.
