Bonelli on track to knock Gianni off top spot with turnover of €100m

Italy's Bonelli Erede Pappalardo is on target to boost turnover by 16 per cent from last year's figure of €86m (£57.9m) to at least €100m (£67.4m), making it the largest Italian law firm based on turnover.

The 300-lawyer firm was the second-largest Italian firm behind Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners, which has a turnover of €91.4m (£61.5m), according to The Lawyer Euro 100 2005.

The figures were boosted by Bonelli's takeover of administrative law boutique Sica earlier this year, in which Bonelli acquired a 20-lawyer team, including four partners.

Bonelli partners enjoy one of the highest property per equity partner figures in Europe at €1.7m (£1.1m), with top partners earning €7.4m (£5m).

Bonelli has also announced six internal partnership promotions, including the first promotion from the firm's London office. Andrea de Tomas will be supporting partner Riccardo Sallustio and structured finance partner Alberto Del Din in running the London operation.

De Tomas specialises in acquisition finance for private equity houses, real estate finance and restructurings.
