Boekel to set up Dutch law office in London

Dutch firm Boekel De Nerée is to open an office in London to service its Dutch clients.

The office will practise only Dutch law and will initially be staffed by four lawyers and headed by ­partner Ferdinand Mason.

The firm ultimately hopes to increase this number to 11 lawyers. Boekel operates on a model whereby it refers far more work out than it receives from international firms.

Part of the function of the office will therefore be to ­develop relationships with UK firms for work from existing Dutch clients, as well as acting as a simple fee-earning centre for Dutch work.

Mason said: “We can’t compete with UK law firms, nor do we intend to do so.”
