B&M Paris lawyer selected for French govt role

Baker & McKenzie‘s (B&M) former chair and current policy committee chair Christine Lagarde is leaving to become the French Minister for Foreign Trade. The appointment takes effect immediately. Paris-based Lagarde has been a B&M partner since 1987, holding a number of high-profile roles at the firm. She was Paris managing partner for four years until joining B&M’s executive committee in 1995, which she chaired from October 1999 until last October.
