Baker & McKenzie has strengthened its German offices with the appointment of a tax partner and an M&A partner.
M&A partner Andreas Hoffmann joins the Munich office and tax partner Christian Birkholz joins the firm's Berlin office.
Hoffmann joins from the management board of Advanced Medien, which has now been taken over by EMS New Media. He says that his role was to manage the company. "But now the company's been taken over, I'm no longer in the driving seat. The merger doesn't fit in with my original contract or the original ideas about where the company should end up," he says. At Baker & McKenzie he will do M&A, capital markets and private equity work.
Birkholz joins from tax boutique Flick Gocke Schaumburg, where he specialised in tax planning, tax controversies, M&A, personal tax and estate planning matters.
Head of the German offices Gunther Heckelmann says: "The new two partners are part of our strategy for dynamic expansion."
