BLP’s loss of Colt brief is GTM’s gain

GTM was appointed after a contested procurement process involving a number of firms. It has been contracted to provide UK employment law advice to the FTSE250 company’s 12 European offices for an ­initial term of three years.

GTM would not disclose its fee structure for the deal but said it offered “a responsive alignment with Colt’s budgetary requirements”.

A spokesperson for Colt said the company may look to sign similar deals with GTM for areas other than employment, adding: “We’re constantly looking at the legal services market for the best arrangement.”

The news comes a year after Colt tried and failed to secure a similar deal with BLP’s Managed Legal Service arm. As with GTM, Colt asked BLP to manage all its employment work.

Colt and BLP signed a memorandum of understanding for a five-year deal, but could not agree on terms and the tie-up collapsed. Colt has instructed BLP on occasion since the agreement failed.

The deal with GTM has been finalised, according to the Colt spokesperson.
