BLP swoop secures fraud partner from DLA Piper

Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has secured the services of fraud specialist Segun Osuntokan from DLA Piper.

Osuntokan, who was a partner at DLA Piper, has been hired to boost BLP’s banking and finance litigation practice.

BLP head of dispute resolution Jonathan Sacher said: “Segun will help add to our already strong banking litigation practice and our growing financial services offering. His contacts in sub-Saharan Africa will also help to complement our own growing relationships across that region.”

At DLA Piper Osuntokan worked with David Hughes, the firm’s head of banking and finance litigation, on one of Nigeria’s biggest banking frauds. He has also spent time working at the Financial Services Authority.

Osuntokan said: “[BLP’s] distinctive international strategy is something that I’m particularly keen on. Its focus on building a depth of expertise in financial services and its strong reputation in all areas of contentious law are a really good match with areas in which I have experience.”

DLA Piper UK head of litigation and regulatory David Gray said: “Segun made a valuable contribution to the team and we’d like to wish him well in his new role.”
