Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has secured the second partner for its fledgling competition department with the recruitment of Office of Fair Trading (OFT) director Becket McGrath.
McGrath joins competition head David Harrison, who joined BLP just two months ago from Allen & Overy.
McGrath was a branch director in the competition enforcement division of the OFT with responsibility for the telecoms, information services and media sectors.
At the OFT McGrath led case teams on numerous high profile cases, including investigating BSkyB’s pricing policies and a case involving the British Horseracing Board and the Jockey Club. He also led the OFT discussions with the European Commission on their investigations of the FA Premier League and Microsoft.
