BLP public affairs head lands directorship at CRE

Berwin Leighton Paisner’s head of public affairs and public policy has been named as the new director of private sector at the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE).

Litigation specialist Brenda Stern will take a two-year secondment from the City firm where she has been since 2000 to take up the role under commission chairman Trevor Phillips in October.

South-African qualified Stern was formerly managing director of aXcess Policy Advocacy, South Africa’s first lobbying company, and took a robust approach to post-Apartheid civil society restructuring.

Her brief at the CRE will include establishing closer ties with private sector organisations and eliminating discrimination.
