Todd was head of Linklaters' international tax unit in Paris between 1994 and 2000 before returning to London. His recruitment gives BLP's tax practice six partners.
BLP head of tax John Overs said: "We're looking to strengthen our tax team as we recognise it as an area where we're able to add a lot of value for clients."
The hire of Todd from Linklaters marks the firm's eighth lateral hire to the firm's finance practice in the past 12 months.
Todd's recruitment follows the firm's capture of Clifford Chance co-head of real estate litigation Wendy Miller, who will co-head BLP's real estate litigation practice with Roger Cohen, as exclusively revealed by The Lawyer (4 September).
In June the firm hired Invesco general counsel John Taylor to head its international strategy and Slaughter and May Paris corporate finance partner Audoin Maggiar.
In May BLP bolstered its securitisation practice with the hire of Financial Guarantee Insurance Company European general counsel Paul Severs, himself a former Clifford Chance partner, as well as Lovells partner Tamara Box.
