BLG trio strengthens Kemp Little’s commercial tech team

Technology boutique Kemp Little has bolstered its IT capabilities with the hire of two senior lawyers from Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG).

Former BLG partner Paul Hinton and former associate director Andrew Joint have joined Kemp Little as partners in the commercial technology practice.

Hinton specialises in financial services-related IT projects such as data platforms, while Joint is best known for deals in the professional services sector.

The firm has also hired a third lawyer from BLG in assistant Chris Hill.

BLG has struggled over recent years to build a non-contentious technology practice. In December 2006 technology partners Simon Shooter, Christian Bartsch and Chris Holder left the firm to join Bird & Bird.

However, incoming BLG chief executive David Jabbari said there was “no question” of the firm moving away from its broader commercial offering.

“Our strategy is to build a very strong non-contentious base that reflects our insurance sector practice,” said Jabbari. “Paul’s practice was developing in a slightly different direction to our vision. We wish him every success.”

Kemp Little senior partner Richard Kemp said the hires were “a significant development” for the firm.
