Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has hired Allen & Overy (A&O) global head of knowledge management David Jabbari to become its first chief operating officer.
Jabbari, who will join BLG in February 2009, will work closely with the firm's chief executive Clint Evans to improve the firm's operational infrastructure and will be jointly responsible for the business support services teams.
Evans said Jabbari's appointment is part of the continuing strategy to improve the firm's management structure.
"The next phase will be revamping the legal process and importing the latest thinking on legal knowledge," said Evans. "David's got all that as well as an understanding of the business of law firms, international business and legal education."
Jabbari has been the global head of know-how at A&O since 2002. He joined the magic circle firm from the College of Law, where he was a member of the management board.
A&O thanked Jabbari for his contribution to the firm.
