Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has bagged a three-lawyer team from international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel for its expanding aerospace division
The new hires boost BLG’s current five-partner practice by a fifth, less than a year after it increased its number of partners by one with the internal promotion of Mert Hifzi last April.
Neil McGilchrist who is of counsel at Gide leaves after two years to join BLG in the same capacity. He will be followed by Gide associates Anna Anatolitou and Maria Galan at the beginning of February.
McGilchrist, who played a significant role in the Egypt Air crash case of 1999 and the Air France concorde disaster of 2000, was also previously the joint senior partner and chairman of Beaumont & Son.
Head of BLG’s aerospace team Giles Kavanagh said: “We are delighted to welcome Neil, Anna and Maria to the firm. Neil's vast experience and international standing in handling aviation losses will further strengthen our capabilities. Anna and Maria have significant experience of aviation claims in an international context.”
