BLG makes up 36 to new semi-partner role

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has introduced a new management level of associate director as part of the firm’s continued shake-up.

The grade came into force this week with 36 associates being made up associate director, which is a new status level between associate and partner.

The position of associate director is not necessarily an alternative to partnership as lawyers in this position will still have the opportunity to make partner.

Senior partner Richard Dedman said: “This is a new firm role aimed at empowering and rewarding our more experienced associates. The new associate directors will be making a vital contribution to departmental management and developing client relationships.”

The role was newly created this year’s as part of BLG’s restructuring, which has seen the firm convert to limited liability partnership status and the appoint a new chief executive Clint Evans, who will join in July.

The 36 associate directors are:

Corporate: Rachel Heslehurst, Marriam Malik

Employment and pensions: Mark Howard, Chris Holme, Jon Ions and James Major
