John Colvin, the firm's chief executive officer (CEO), is currently on sabbatical and the search for a successor is underway. A spokesperson for the firm said that succession planning has been underway for a while. It is understood that the board is aiming to make a decision during the next few months. The spokesperson refused to disclose which partners were in the running for the job, but revealed that the plan was for the selected person to be in place by the beginning of the next financial year. Blakes boasts more than 180 partners across nine offices and is one of only three Australian firms to have a base in London.
