SJ Berwin has confirmed the appointment of head of private equity Jonathan Blake as the firm’s new senior partner.
The firm’s partnership appointed Blake as successor to outgoing senior partner David Harrel as part of a discrete ballot for a joint-ticket proposal. As part of the join proposal Ralph Cohen will continue as managing partner, with an expanded range of responsibilities.
The appointment follows five months of consultation with the partnership on the senior partner appointment. Blake, Cohen and head of EU and competition Stephen Kon were all considered for the role.
Harrel said: “These appointments are very good for the firm. In Jonathan and Ralph we have two highly respected partners with a proven track record of leadership in the firm.”
