The BBC has brought in Blackstone Chambers silk Dinah Rose QC to advise it over the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

The corporation’s in-house legal team has turned to the human rights and civil liberties barrister. The instruction was revealed as MPs quizzed BBC director general George Entwistle at this morning’s Commons culture committee.
Two investigations are looking into any failings in the BBC’s management of the pulled Newsnight investigation and the culture of the BBC during the years Savile worked there. The second inquiry is being led by former High Court judge Dame Janet Smith.
Meanwhile, Russell Jones & Walker partner Liz Dux is preparing to launch a case against the BBC and Stoke Mandeville hospital on behalf of alleged victims of sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile (12 October 2012). Dux is instructed on the case, which claims the broadcaster and the hospital both owed a duty of care to the claimants and should be held liable for any alleged abuse.
