Bahl is being backed by the Society of Black Lawyers, the Metropolitan Black Police Association, the Association of Black Probation Officers and the National Assembly Against Racism after she was asked to stand down due to allegations of bullying.
National chairperson of the Society of Black Lawyers Peter Herbert, who is leading the campaign, has written to president Robert Sayer expressing concern at the Law Society's "heavy-handed manner".
Herbert says: "There is a great deal of suspicion that Ms Bahl herself may be the subject of bullying and intimidation designed to remove the threat of the first Asian woman taking up the presidency."
