City law firm Bird & Bird has recruited Simon Chalton as a consultant and Hilary Pearson as a partner to boost its IT department
Chalton, a former IT consultant with Masons, joins the firm as an adviser on databases, data protection and the developing law of privacy.
Pearson, a former partner with Texas law firm Arnold, White & Durkee, joins the company department. She will concentrate on contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and IT work.
Birds partner Hamish Sandison says the appointment of Chalton and Pearson will provide invaluable support for the firm's growing client base in the IT area. He adds: "IT issues are an integral part of most of the key decisions facing businesses today. If businesses are to maximise opportunities they need to have access to lawyers who are attuned to the technical and legal issues involved."
