Bird & Bird has boosted its Asia IP practice with the appointment of partner Ai-Leen Lim from Singapore firm Colin Ng & Partners.
Lim will join the firm as head of its IP portfolio management practice in Asia and work out of the Hong Kong and Beijing practices.
Lim was head of Colin Ng's regional IP group and chief contact partner for the firm's Beijing office. Before that she was an assistant trademark and patent registrar at the Singapore IP Office.
Lim's practice encompasses the contentious and non-contentious sides of trademark, patent and copyright portfolio management, including anti-piracy work.
Bird & Bird managing partner David Kerr said: "Over the past few years we've been expanding rapidly and successfully in Asia. The addition of a new partner demonstrates that we continue to build cohesively there."
Asia has become a key market in the IP battleground. Bird & Bird has recruited five IP litigation lawyers and four trademark and patent specialists in Asia over the last 12 months.
Last year the firm launched its own trademark filing agency in China, which Lim will manage in Beijing.
