Bird & Bird has launched its first German office with eight partners from the Düsseldorf office of Andersen Luther
The team is led by Ander-sen CEO Wolfgang von Meibom, who joined with a team form Wessing last year. Meibom, who will be chairman of the new office, takes with him Klaus-Juergen Michaeli, Alexander Schroeder-Frerkes, Jan Byok, Felix Roediger, Christian Harmsen, Uwe Lueken and Maximiliane Stoeckel. Bird & Bird is also understood to be looking at options to open a Munich office. The move is a blow for Andersen Luther, which is in merger talks with Ernst & Young-tied German firm Menold & Aulinger, as it leaves the Düsseldorf office with just four partners. It is understood that Menold also plans to close its Düsseldorf office due to partner losses.
