Bircham Dyson Bell head of company and commercial Guy Vincent has been confirmed as the firm’s new managing partner following an uncontested election.
Vincent began his four-year term last Monday (5 September) after several other department heads who were tipped to stand for the role pulled out of the race following his nomination.
He replaces Michael Wood, who announced his retirement from the firm in August in order to launch a management consultancy firm. Wood, who has been managing partner since January 2003, will remain with Bircham until May 2006 to enable a smooth transition.
Vincent has been with Bircham since March 2000 and was managing partner of City firm Bower Cotton from 1997. He led a mass exodus to Bircham and Bower Cotton subsequently broke up.
Property partner Paul Voller has taken over Vincent’s former responsibilities as head of company and commercial.
Bircham has recently announced ambitious plans to enter The Lawyer’s top 50 league table within five years. The firm was ranked 77th in this year’s The Lawyer UK 100 Annual Report after reporting a gross revenue of £24.5m.
