BILP strikes LPC deal with TLT

BILP, the professional legal studies arm of the University of West of England (UWE), has been confirmed by TLT as one of its preferred providers for the study of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) by its prospective trainees. The firm has not, however, signed an excusive deal with the school.

Head of BILP Steve Dinning said: “This is further proof that firms in the region recognise UWE as a top quality provider of professional legal education. UWE/BILP is hopeful that the other major firms in Bristol will go down the preferred provider route in the very near future.”

The move follows CoL’s announcement that it has struck its first exclusive deal with Beachcroft. The school has signed a deal with the Bristol giant to become the sole provider of the Graduate Diploma in Law and LPC for its future trainee solicitors from September 2010.

Bristol’s other major law firms, such as the likes of Burges Salmon and Clarke Wilmott, currently do not have exclusive relationships with a single LPC provider.

The news comes after BILP announced it would be slashing its LPC fees by 13.5 per cent and would be refurbishing its building just after both BPP and CoL confirmed they had secured premises in the city centre.

LPC students enrolling with BILP in 2010 will be charged £7,860 compared to the £9,095 paid by existing students.

CoL, meanwhile, will be asking students to fork out a whopping £10,200 for its LPC in Bristol from September 2010 while its arch-rival BPP will be asking for £8,995.
