Big Apple turns sour for Links associates

It’s all the buzz of the internet super-highway: Linklaters’ New York summer associates are not happy bunnies – allegedly.

It’s all the buzz of the internet super-highway: Linklaters’ New York summer associates are not happy bunnies – allegedly.

The interweb rumour mill is spreading gossip that the magic circle firm’s associates have had such “a terrible time” that many have not yet accepted job offers from Linklaters.

According to a blawg on abovethelaw.com some are so disappointed about their experiences that they are holding out for grabbing a last-minute appointment at other firms through Early Interview Week.

Apparently, the summer class of Linklaters NY in 2006 “felt abused”, with one comment stating: “Everyone I know who did a screening interview walked away extremely disturbed by the attorneys they sat with.”

Josh Berick, co-hiring partner in New York, has slammed the rumours, saying: “Linklaters had its largest and strongest summer associate class ever.”

Some of the blawggers also stuck up for Linklaters, with one commenting: “My friend raved about the firm, the people, and the work.”

Perhaps, as one contributor observed, Linklaters New York is a bit like marmite… you either love it, or you don’t.
