Biddle appoints former lawyer as business chief

City firm Biddle has appointed a former Gouldens partner as its first-ever business development director.

Diana Spoudeas worked in corporate finance until earlier this year. Biddle has now snapped her up. The 32-partner firm was keen to appoint a lawyer, rather than a marketing expert, to the role.

Managing partner Martin Lane says of her appointment: “She is not a traditional marketing person who has done a marketing degree.

“Instead she knows what it is like trying to market lawyers to clients and what pressures they are under.

“I think the real perceived advantage is that it is someone who has experience at another City firm.”
