Bevans in corporate drive with PwC hire

Peter McIlwraith was PwC's regional chairman for the South West and Wales until last September. He is currently non-executive chairman at @Bristol Ltd, the city's £100m science, education and entertainment centre. He is also the non-executive director at Bristol Water and Brandon Hire.
McIlwraith will work closely with Ann Conway-Hughes, Bevan Ashford's non-lawyer chief executive for Bristol, Birmingham and London, who joined from engineering conglomerate GKN last year (The Lawyer, 17 September 2001).
Conway-Hughes said: “Peter will be an important asset in developing Bevan Ashford into a highly focused, commercially-driven organisation.”
•Bevan Ashford has also hired two new partners. Bethan Evans is joining from Syniad, the improvement and development agency for local government in Wales, where she is executive director, to head the firm's new public sector group. The West Country practice has also appointed a new head of corporate recovery and insolvency to replace Louise Wilkinson, who went to Theodore Goddard last year (The Lawyer, 8 October 2001). David Pomeroy joins from Clarke Willmott & Clarke, bringing along associate Emma Davy.
