Bevan Brittan installs local government head as senior partner

The firm announced in February that it was to revert to a legal management structure following the departure of chief executive Andrew Manning at the end of the financial year (20 February 2012).

The firm appointed Duncan Weir, who has sat on its board for past four years, as managing partner while Evans as senior partner will take control of the ’go to market’ activities of the firm.

Bevan Brittan repositioned itself as a public sector firm after Manning was appointed in September 2008. The appointment came after the partnership voted out former chief executive Stuart Whitfield following a fall in revenues (1 September 2008). Evans has overseen the development of the local government practice.

She said: “Our strategy as ‘the public services law firm’ has resonated with our clients and enhanced our reputation at a time when the shape and delivery of public services is going through significant change.”
