Bevan Ashford is to launch a dedicated banking practice from its London office with a partner-level hire from Denton Wilde Sapte.
Philippa Chadwick, a partner in the project finance group of Dentons’ banking and finance department, will build up the practice, pulling together lawyers with banking expertise from elsewhere in the firm.
A number of Bevan Ashford partners currently do banking as well as corporate work, but Chadwick will be the firm’s first partner to focus exclusively on banking.
The expectation is that she will build a standalone practice as well as supporting other key areas, such as projects and insurance. At Dentons, her experience has included advising on major projects in the road, waste, water and power industries and on UK PFI projects. Her broader experience covers corporate lending, acquisitions and general and trade finance.
Chadwick’s recent clients include Dexia, Nib Capital, the Royal Bank of Scotland and a wide range of PFI and projects clients.
Bevan Ashford head of insurance and finance Gordon Bon said: “Philippa’s expertise will take our banking, PFI and property finance capabilities to a new level.”
