ASPIRING barrister Khaled Nasir has been plucked from the Bar by law firm S J Berwin & Co.Nasir, 27, is the third barrister to have been recruited by the firm's growing advocacy practice. He had been squatting at 2-3 Gray's Inn Square, the chambers headed by Anthony Scrivener QC.Richard Slowe, head of the law firm's advocacy practice, said he planned a gradual expansion of the department."The difference between us and most other law firms is that we are building up a separate advocacy group within the litigation department," he said."We will take referrals from litigation and other departments in the same way as independent barristers are instructed."Nasir, a specialist in common law and commercial litigation, began his career at the Bar serving a pupillage with Essex Court Chambers.He then spent more than a year in New York working in the litigation department at Dewey Ballantine.He said: "It's good to be working in a team, because at the Bar you are more isolated."
