BERRYMANS, the 19-partner London insurance litigation firm, has taken on commercial partner Peter Bohm from niche commercial practice Courts & Co. Bohm will head the firm's developing company and commercial department.
Bohm brings extensive experience in acquisitions, joint ventures and disposal work to the firm.
He was with five-partner Courts & Co for 10 years and was previously an in-house lawyer at Ladbroke Group for six years, after several years with City-based Herbert Smith, where he trained.
At Berrymans he will be the first full-time partner to head the company/commercial practice and he will lead a three-strong team of lawyers.
On his reasons for the move, Bohm says: "It's a great opportunity to head a department, to try and build a new area in the firm and also build on the firm's existing client base."
The aim is for the commercial side of the practice to match the firm's strong reputation in insurance and construction-related work, says Bohm.
Berrymans senior partner, Paul Taylor, says Bohm's appointment will enable the firm to provide clients with a broader range of advice.
Courts & Co declines to comment on Bohm's departure. "It is a private matter," says senior partner Bill Holme.
