Taylor ;Wessing ;has bolstered its Dubai office with the hire of Berrymans Lace Mawer’s local managing partner Jeremy Cama, forcing the latter firm to close its operation in the emirate.
Berrymans ;national senior partner Terry Renouf said the firm’s Dubai office originally existed to support a number of large pieces of litigation, adding: “It’s now more efficient for our clients and ourselves to run these cases from the UK with the continued assistance of our local associates.”
It is understood there had been a number of departures from Berrymans’ Dubai office in recent years amid concerns over a lack of integration with the UK. The firm refused to confirm the number of departures.
Cama, who had a spell as managing partner of Denton Wilde Sapte’s Singapore office in the early 1990s, has joined Taylor Wessing’s Dubai office as a consultant, focusing on projects and property development work.
