Lovells is losing Berlin-based tax and real estate partner Nikolaus Ley, who resigned formally on 21 January. It is understood that Ley is not affected by the firm’s radical plans to axe 25 partners in a bid to improve flagging profitability. According to a well-placed source, Ley is planning to launch his own practice with former Lovells partner Klaus Racky, who retired from the firm last October.
