Berg Legal hires non-lawyer to head corporate

Manchester firm Berg Legal has taken an innovative route to advising clients by hiring a non-lawyer for its corporate finance department. Colin Davenport (left), formerly chief executive of finance group Davenham, has joined the firm as a director of the corporate finance team. He will help advise clients about the structure of financings and, in his own words, "oil the wheels of transactions". Davenport has worked with the firm for a number of years after first becoming aware of it when a Berg Legal litigator was on the other side of a dispute.
