Barrister Craig Holt is set to become the first person to launch a web-based legal supermarket in the UK, beating disgraced solicitor Jim Beresford to the punch.
As TheLawyer.com reported (12 December 2008), Beresford, name partner of Doncaster-based Beresfords Solicitors, who was struck off for misconduct in his handling of the coalminers’ compensation scheme, is seeking to launch mysolicitor.com.
Holt is set to launch qualitysolicitors.com within days. He described the site as an “ethical legal service provider” and vowed to match members of the public with the ideal solicitor for their legal issue.
“We employ rigorous selection criteria, specifically to protect the public from situations such as occurred with Beresfords,” said Holt. “There are many very good solicitors out there who put their clients’ interests first time and time again.”
Beresford’s legal supermarket was expected to launch in autumn 2008, but is yet to materialise.
