German firm Beiten Burkhardt Goerdeler has scooped a licence from the Chinese Ministry of Justice to open a second office on the mainland.
Beiten Burkhardt, which already has offices in Hong Kong and Beijing, expects to have its new Shanghai office operational within the next two weeks. The launch will make Beiten Burkhardt the only German firm with a presence in all three key locations in China.
Björn Etgen, the partner in charge of Beiten Burkhardt’s China practice told The Lawyer that the firm’s corporate and international trade practice in Shanghai would offer a particular focus on anti-dumping matters.
Etgen will head the Shanghai office, but will continue to spend time in Beijing. One German associate and three Chinese lawyers will be based in Shanghai.
