Beiten Burkhardt is continuing its push into Eastern Europe, becoming the first leading German firm to open an office in Kiev.
The office, which will open officially in September 2004, practices in corporate and commercial work for German manufacturing and real estate clients.
Former St Petersburg-based partner Felix Rackwitz has relocated to Kiev to head up the operation, alongside three other lawyers.
The move comes 12 years after the launch of the firm’s pioneer Moscow office. It is the only major German firm with an office in the Ukrainian capital, joining US firms Baker & McKenzie, Salans and Squire Sanders & Dempsey.
Rackwitz said: "Within the next 10 years, we aim to have an office with up to 10 lawyers, to advise clients in all fields of corporate and commercial work."
