German firm Beiten Burkhardt has capitalised on its growth in the Ukraine during its first 12 months of practising there, moving its staff to new and larger premises in Kiev.
The firm, which is Berwin Leighton Paisner's best friend in Germany, now regards itself as a market leader in the Ukraine, securing instructions on some of the country's largest projects, and has doubled its legal staff in Kiev to 11 during the past year.
Clients include local financial services providers, while the firm has regularly acted as local counsel for other international law firms.
Beiten Burkhardt CIS pratice head Thomas Heidemann said: "There can be no doubt that we've achieved the objective we set ourselves when we opened a year ago, of moving into the top league of law firms represented in the Ukraine."
Kiev office head Felix Rackwitz said: "In the past 12 months we've developed exceedingly dynamically and have asserted ourselves with high quality in a market characterised by deep-rooted radical and rapid changes."
The Kiev office focuses on industrial projects, advising on investments and property transactions and the legal and tax structure of banking and financial projects.
