Stuart Bedford is an associate with the sort of deals under his belt that many City partners would dream of (although working with Linklaters’ star partner Charlie Jacobs helps).
Originally a property lawyer, who also had a spell at Arlington Securities, Bedford was lured back to Linklaters four years ago. He won his spurs on the defence of Six Continents against Hugh Osmond’s hostile bid, and proved his technical ability on innovative dual-listed structures such as Investec and BHP Billiton.
Versatility has been his hallmark, and 2004 was another good year. He advised Centrica on the sale of AA to CVC and Permira, and on Scottish & Newcastle’s bid for Bulmers. Equally at home on public bids, private M&A and IPO advice, Bedford’s understated but can-do attitude means he is rated by clients and colleagues alike.
