While we’re on the subject of struggling US law firms, here’s a hint on how to economise: don’t spend £7,000 on a coffee machine. Unfortunately, we’ve been told that Buchanan Ingersoll did. You may recall that Buchanan was the firm that recently scaled back its London operation to a lawyerless office.
Although we’re not blaming the current state of affairs on the multi-grand grinder, it does seem a bit over the top. In the firm’s defence, a source tells us that the magical machine made the perfect cappuccino, the perfect latté and even the perfect espresso. This sounds all very nice and everything, but it is in fact a load of perfect pants. What the hell’s wrong with a kettle and a pint of milk?
