•Beachcroft has joined the carbon footprint bandwagon, pledging to reduce its carbon emissions by 5 per cent. The firm already has one of the lowest footprints in the legal industry, producing 4,526 tonnes of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of 7.9 tonnes per lawyer, in the last financial year. Beachcroft's footprint is only beaten by Addleshaw Goddard's, which produced 5.7 tonnes per lawyer (The Lawyer, 23 July). Beachcroft is to work with its IT department to automatically switch off idle computers after 7pm and, in conjunction with the CarbonNeutral Company, it will be purchasing emission reductions in a methane capture project in the Rhine-Ruhr area of Germany.
